#15 closed defect (fixed)

Cannot use audio/webcam devices that have non-ASCII name

Reported by: achain Owned by: vadim
Priority: major Milestone: QuteCom 2.2-RC2
Component: misc Version: 2.2-RC3
Keywords: Cc:

Description

I tested QuteCom 2.2-RC2 for Windows on my WinXP SP3 Japanese edition, and found that QuteCom doesn't handle audio and webcam deviced if they have Japanese device name. (See attached picture.)

I had to change device name (by modifying *.inf, cleaning registory and re-install device drivers) to let audio and webcam devices be usable in this version of QuteCom.

  • Version changed from 2.2-RC1 to 2.2-RC3

I have the same problem with my headset. It's name has a german umlaut in it. When I want to save the settings and reopen it the selection is gone. This doesn't happen with the other devices.

Can you try this ?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have the capabilities to compile that into a new windows build to test the changes. Can someone do that?

I'm sorry, it's still the same. The umlaut's are now correctly displayed but the selected device isn't saved if I reopen the settings window.

Just discovered something. The devices seem to BE saved (can phone with it, also after restarting app) but they are just not selected in the dropdown list in settings. So there must be only a bug in the code that selects the correct entry in the dropdown. It's like in the screenshot I attached, the field is empty which should normally not occur unless the software tries to select an entry which isn't there!

Replying to laurent:

Can you try this one ?

Thanks.
This build does use my webcam and save/recall the device configuration, though the asian characters in the device name are not displayed correctly yet.
Probably it is font issue. So I agree to mark this fixed.
